US leaders in North Carolina to review bid for massive sports event
The Triangle’s bid for the 2027 World University Games takes another important step today when a key U.S. delegation visits that area to review facilities.
The International University Sports Federation announced the Triangle was a finalist for the games in February, putting the market in position to add a major festival for the first time since the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1987.
The Triangle is competing with Chungcheong, South Korea, for the games. The winner will be announced in October.
